Once you get your blog up, the first thing you should do is adjust the basic settings to your liking.

There are several things to do:

  • Add your tagline.
  • Adjust the number of blog posts you would like to see per page.
  • Customize who is able to leave comments.
  • Choose your preferences for email notifications.

First, find the "settings" button on the lefthand side of your blog.

This is where you will be able to make all of these changes.

To add your tagline go to "settings" - "general."

Type your tagline into the open field and then click "save changes" at the bottom of the page.

This is the only change that you want to make under the "general" tab.

To adjust the number of blog posts you would like to see per page, go to the "reading" tab that is two buttons below "general."

Same drill. Enter the number you want into the field, and "click save changes." You can also adjust your blog's front page display (which article you want to feature) under this section.

To customize who is able to leave comments AND choose your preferences for email notificationsgo to "discussion" which is directly below "reading."

The first section of the page covers "default article settings." This means that these attributes will automatically be assigned to each blog you post, unless you change it when posting an individual article.

To turn the comments on, click the checkbox next to: allow people to post comments on new articles.

You can make other adjustments, like requiring that anyone wishing to make a comment must give their name and email address, in the section entitled: Other Comment Settings.

These are the most important/basic things you should take a look at when setting up the basic data for your blog. There are many other changes you can make under the "discussion" section and others.
